Course objectives

The objective of the workshop was to share the results of the study undertaken by GIZ with experts from international experts from AMCG Unternehmensberatung GmbH, Munich, Germany, and national experts from Paradigm Inc., Pune, India, and to discuss on the potentials and technologies for the reduction of CO2 emissions in the Indian steel industry.

The purpose of the workshop was to share the results of a study “Steel Industry in India: Potentials and Technologies for Reduction of CO2 Emissions”, which was conducted under the on-going Indo-German Environment Programme (ASEM). The study was conducted jointly by the national consultants (Paradigm Inc., Pune) and the international consultants (AMCG Unteraehmensberatung GmbH, Munich, Germany).

Description of contents/agenda

The programme included inaugural session with speeches from Dr. GV Subrahmanyam, Advisor, Ministry of Environment & Forests, Government of India, Dr. Bernd Dunnzlaff, Head of Economic Cooperation & Development from the German Embassy and Dr. Dieter Mutz, Director of ASEM Programme. The key technical presentation covering the study undertaken was from Mr. Chistoph Genter from AMCG and Mr. Pradeep Nadkarni from Paradigm.
