Introduction
Eco Industrial Development (EID) is a promising strategy to promote sustainable industrial development tackling environmental, economic and social aspects in a balanced manner.
The eco industrial development approach offers, through a wide variety of measures and tools, opportunities to improve the environmental performance of individual industries and industrial parks/estates. Each individual area, already existing or newly planned, requires an individual mix of measures and tools. GIZ, together with its international partners, has developed a great variety of tools. GIZ is experienced in employing these tools and supporting institutions and industrial estate managers in finding the right solutions and in improving relationships with governments, NGOs and neighbouring communities.
